Sweet

Typically flavour based – the primary ingredient is sugar; includes candies and fudges
Sweet-and-sour

Typically based on a sour fruit – the sugar both tempers the flavour, and acts as a preservative; includes candied fruit, fruit-stews, fruit-cheese and fruit balls.
Spicy-flavour

Typically flavour-based – the primary ingredient is starch or protein, and is coated with a heavy spice flavour; includes coconut, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg
Cocoa-chocolate

The primary ingredient is derived from the cacao plant, whether the pod, or the bean; includes chocolate, cocoa-balls, cocoa-nibs, cocoa-butter, cocoa-powder
Spicy-Pepper

The hot flavour, is the result of the ground peppers and peppercorns that are incorporated. Pepper acts as both a flavoring and a preservative.
Salty

Salty flavour either because salt is sprinkled on the finished product, or the ingredients are brined before cooking; includes nuts, not-quite nuts, and chips. Salt acts as both flavouring and preservative.
Savoury

Umami flavour as distinct from saltiness; includes fried products, cassava and seaweed products.
Bitter

Bitter flavour often found in teas, and sometimes combined with sugar in finished products; citrus-peel, cocoa, turmeric and lemon-grass
Crunchy

This includes products that require strong teeth to consume, and deliver a satisfying crunch while doing so – these include nut cake, and kurma.
Powder

This group includes both ready to consume products (e.g. farine and ashem) and recipe ingredients like powdered spices, and cocoa powder.
Drink-Sauce

This includes food products with a smooth/liquid texture whether ready-made drinks or sauces, or key ingredients (like tea bags) for you to put together
Preparation

Some of the items in our boxes cannot be consumed as-is and require preparation or addition of other items to make it palatable; these include ground spices, powders, sauces, and drink ingredients that need boiling
